Ladies raise the roof in Little Five Points at fundraiser for summer music camp

It takes guts and courage to play before an audience.

It's especially so if it's your first time.

But for several metro Atlanta ladies, who rocked it Sunday in Little Five Points' restaurant, it was all for a good cause: They were raising money for Girls' Rock Camp ATL.

The non-profit organization, based in Decatur, provides music instruction and mentoring to young girls and building their confidence and self-esteem, said Stacey Singer, who is its co-founder and director.

Sunday's event, the Ladies Rock Camper Showcase, featured six bands.

The women in each group learned to play an instrument and wrote a song they then practiced before taking the stage — all over the course of a few days.

The event was held to raise money for Girls' Rock Camp ATL's summer program at in Ormewood Park.

This year's summer camp program is scheduled for July 11th through the 16th, Singer said.
