Walls Come to Life in East Atlanta Village Block Party This Saturday

Come support art, life and all the things that make EAV an amazing and unique place at the Living Walls Block Party this Saturday.

EAST ATLANTA — On Saturday, the Village will be transformed when the walls of buildings become canvases as part of the Living Walls Block Party.

Living Walls is a non-profit that seeks to promote, educate, and change perspectives toward public space in our communities via street art across the country.

The event lasts all day (from noon to 2:30 a.m.) and features an artist market, specials at local business, live music at local venues, and a pop-up gallery–which begins at 5 p.m. at 535 Gresham Ave. The artists include Molly Rose Freeman, Christopher Derek Bruno, Bridget Quinn, Rachel Burnstein, JD Koth and the Knitterati.

Pop-up galleries are a relatively new concept where artists take over a space for a temporary time, either a day or a week or more, and display art. For the Living Walls event this Saturday, the pop-up gallery is made possible through the donation of space by the property owner.

Opening the space to the public highlights it as a potential rental. The artists benefit because their work is on display. The space also provides a place for the artists to discuss their work.
