Pressure and Iron & Steel -- An Art on the Beltline Performance

Journey into Atlanta’s industrial past and present with an evening of site-specific dance inspired by CSX’s Hulsey rail yard and by Stein Steel & Supply Company, in Reynoldstown, which helped fuel the post-World War II building boom and remain potent engines of Atlanta’s present economic successes. The two works, Pressure and Iron & Steel are created and performed by Crossover Movement Arts (www.crossovermovementarts.com), and presented by award-winning dance presenter Dance Truck (www.dancetruck.org). Performed on the Atlanta BeltLine where it passes by Stein Steel, the event is free of charge thanks to a grant from Art on the Atlanta BeltLine (www.artonthebeltline.org).

The performance is presented right on the Atlanta BeltLine. Please gather by 6:30 p.m. on the Atlanta BeltLine where it passes by the southwest corner of Stein Steel’s main plant, at approximately 927 Kirkwood Avenue SE, between Kenyon Street SE and Holtzclaw Street SE, south of Wylie Street SE and north of Fulton Terrace/Mauldin (name changes here) Street SE. We will then have a guided walk of about 200 yards north along the Beltline to where it crosses Wylie Street SE at approximately 935 Wylie Street SE, immediately northwest of Stein Steel and south of CSX’s Hulsey rail yard. This is where the featured performances will take place. Guests arriving late should proceed directly to 935 Wylie Street SE.
