Wingate Official: 'We Have Contributed To The Neighborhood'

Criticism of management firm's Bedford-Pines apartments on Boulevard fail to acknowledge efforts.

Last week, Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall announced to address the problems plaguing the Boulevard corridor, which residents in the Old Fourth Ward say is a drag on quality of life.

Much of the criticism over the years, has been levied against Wingate Management Co., the company that oversees Bedford-Pines, a 700-unit subsidized housing apartment complex.

T. Gene Lockard, who is Southeast regional vice president for Wingate, said the company has consistently made efforts to be a good neighbor in the Old Fourth Ward and has contributed to efforts at improving the neighborhood from hiring off-duty Atlanta police officers to the tune of $300,000 a year and running an .
