- It’s time to throw out the dating rulebook and authors Andrea Syrtash and Jeff Wilser are going to tell singletons and couples just why at STK.
- Want to know what the youth of East Atlanta think about racial profiling? Gang violence? Join the East Atlanta Kids Club in its Summer Youth Summit this Friday, July 19, 2013, from 11am – 3pm, at Brownwood Recreation Center in East Atlanta.
The event features a Youth Panel Discussion about Social and Criminal Justice, Civil Rights, Bullying, Gangs, Gun Violence and Healthy Life Choices from 12:00pm-1:30pm.
Joining EAKC youth on the panel are community leaders including police officers, social workers, educators and entrepreneurs.
The summit will also include a Talent Showcase including a Choir performance, Step Show, Robotics Demonstration, Visual Art & Jewelry, all produced by youth enrolled in EAKC’s Summer Camp.
Free Food & Drinks, including healthy snacks, and Free Haircuts will also be available!
- Inman Park hosts a Multi-family Yard Sale at 8 a.m.
- Spend the day with your family at the Atlanta Cyclorama learning in fun, hands-on ways about the Civil War at the Cyclorama's Atlanta Cyclorama Family Fun Day.
- Speaking of the Cyclorama. . .In her groundbreaking book, High On The Hog: A Culinary Journey From Africa To America, Jessica Harris traces the history of soul food from its roots in traditional West African foodways to plantation kitchens and then to haute cuisine restaurants in New York and New Orleans. RECEPTION at 5:30 PM with the author will include refreshments! The program will start at 6 pm. Sign up here.
