Santa In The Park Fundraising Success

A fundraiser to benefit the construction of a Springvale Park playground that featured visits from Santa was successful

Springvale Park friends and neighbors held a Santa in the Park fundraiser on Dec. 3 featuring cookies, cider, hot chocolate and photos with the man in red himself.

The event raised more than $2,000 for the construction of a playground in the park. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2013, according to Eric Goldberg, Inman Park playground volunteer.

Goldberg said there were 90 different donations and estimated that about 250 people, along with many dogs, came to the event.

James Lawrence was the fundraiser's official photographer and (parents, hide your kids' eyes if they don't know yet) Jim Frost played Santa. Inman Park United Methodist Church and Cameron and Stephanie McCaa from Your Intown Home provided refreshments.

Goldberg said he hopes to make this an annual event.
