Old Fourth Ward Parks Get Park Pride Grants
Money will go toward splash pad and dog park.
Park Pride is awarding $550,000 in grants to 11 Atlanta parks and five DeKalb County greenspaces.
Historic Fourth Ward Park, 664 Angier Ave., will receive $16,000 to pay for shade structures for a playground and splash pad.
Renaissance Park, which also is in Old Fourth Ward at Piedmont Avenue and Pine Street, will receive $25,000 for a dog park.

“We are delighted to support a broad range of projects throughout Atlanta and DeKalb County with our 2012 grants,” Park Pride Associate Director Allison Barnett said in a statement.
“The projects vary in scope, budget, location and demographics, but they all share two things: Strong and dedicated Friends of the Park groups, and projects that will make the parks function better for their communities.”

Park Pride is a non-profit organization focuses on beautification and improvement of public greenspaces.
Combined with money given in the spring, Park Pride’s regranting program for 2012 totals $855,000.
