No serious injuries in L5P Halloween Parade accident

Saturday's parade delayed for about 15 minutes after a motorcyclist loses control of bike and rear-ends a 'Zombie' float

No serious injuries were reported as a result of a motorcycle accidentally striking a float on Euclid Avenue during Saturday’s Little 5 Points Halloween Parade in Atlanta.

According to one news outlet, a witness said the driver of the motorcycle was “trying to pop a wheelie” when he lost control and slammed into the rear portion of the “Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse” float.

Several comments at various online sites Sunday suggested that instead the accident was the result of a mechanical malfunction on the bike. The driver and a passenger were reportedly thrown from the bike and as many four people were taken to the emergency room.

The parade was delayed for about 15 minutes as medical and safety personnel attended to those injured.

On its Facebook page, Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse representatives said Sunday the accident “could have been much worse.” More from the Atlanta Zombie Apocalypse post FB post:

“Had a bad accident at the parade but everyone is ok. 4 people were sent to the emergency room and are definitely banged up pretty good but everyone will be ok. The motorcycle driver was having problems with his bike. It was stalled and when he finally got it started it took off and slammed into our van after hitting 3 of our staff."
