Neighborhood Planning Unit-M Meeting Scheduled for Tonight

Group expected to vote on festivals, discuss restaurant licensing matters

Neighborhood Planning Unit-M, which includes the Old Fourth Ward, Sweet Auburn , Downtown and Castleberry Hill sections of Atlanta, is scheduled to meet Monday night at the Helene S. Mills Sr. Multipurpose Facility at 515 John Wesley Dobbs Ave.

NPUs are citizen advisory councils that make recommendations to the mayor and Atlanta City Council on zoning, land use and other planning issues.

On the agenda for the meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m.:

Four planned festivals and races which require a vote of the NPU members. They include the Publix Georgia Marathon, the Downtown Dash for Diabetes, the Sweet Auburn Springfest and Atlanta Caribbean Carnival.

The NPU also will review and discuss licensing applications related to several business establishments, including a change of ownership for the Glenn Hotel downtown, and the change of agent the Cloud IX restaurant and bar.

NPU-M will review the application for the Beignet Connection, a planned restaurant and lounge at 349 Decatur St. and resume discussions on Harlem Nights Ultra Lounge at 201 Courtland St.

The Harlem Nights issue was tabled at January's NPU meeting because of incomplete paperwork from restaurants officials.
