Marie Barker, a children's theater teacher and restaurant worker, writes a letter to a group of first-graders in Missouri about her week with Flat Stanley Thursday from the outdoor patio of Condessa Coffee in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood.
The Flat Stanley Project is designed to get children to write more. Participants, like Barker, receive a Flat Stanley cutout, keep it for a week and write about all the places he's been before being mailed back to students.
