If "No" To QuikTrip, Then What?

If planned gas station and convenience store not the best use for Ormewood Park intersection, what is?

On this, people on both sides of the controversial development project that would bring a QuikTrip gas station and convenience store to the intersection of Moreland and Ormewood avenues, agree: That block needs redevelopment.

Just what to build there to replace the run-down Jiffy Grocery store and Liberty Tax Service buildings is where the two camps part ways.

It's not that opponents are against QT; they'rew opposed to it being built there at that intersection so close to single-family homes.

The Ormewood Park residents who oppose the project, also object to what they say is the property owner's and QT's circumvention of city planning rules that dictate how close gas stations can be to private homes.

Supporters and the landowner, Gobind L. Madan, say the QT would be a vast improvement over what sits there now.

Opponents counter that they shouldn't be expected to accept any development just because it's better than what's there now.

So, what should be built there at that intersection if not QT? What do you think would be the best possible use for the property?
