SEE THE CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARADE

Where/When: Downtown Atlanta/begins at Peachtree Street near Baker Street and ends at Centennial Olympic Park Drive, Atlanta, Saturday, December 3, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why go: In its 31st year, the Children’s Christmas Parade gets all the Atlanta kids in the holiday spirit! Parents: don’t drive -- the Five Points and Peachtree Center MARTA stations are within walking distance of the parade route, and there are limited pay parking lots nearby.

Why go: Get your kids involved with stories, songs and crafts celebrating Ground Hog's Day. Recommended for ages 3-6.

GET KIDS INTERESTED IN HOLIDAY MUSIC

Where/When: Rialto Center for the Performing Arts, 80 Forsyth St., NW, Atlanta, Saturday, December 3, 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 4, 3 p.m.

Why go: At the 14th annual Gala Holiday Concert, the Georgia State University School of Music includes over 200 student and faculty musicians. The concert will feature the Georgia State University Symphony Orchestra, Choruses, and Jazz Band, as well as community ensembles, performing traditional holiday favorites and music with an international twist.

GET INTO THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT BY ICE SKATING OUTDOORS!

Where/When: , 265 Park Avenue West, NW, Atlanta, open daily: Monday-Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m, Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., through January 29, 2012

Why go: Get those kids out of the house and onto the ice at downtown Atlanta’s only outdoor ice skating rink. Visitors enjoy covered observation seating and there is theatrical lighting on the ice with holiday music, too.

Pricing: For 90 minutes of skating/Admission: $7/Skate Rental: $2/Lockers available for $1

 

GET IN ON THE EAST ATLANTA SANTA FEST

Where/When: , 510 Flat Shoals Ave., SE, Atlanta, Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Get photos with East Atlanta Santa, posing for a CD of pictures. All “children,” including those with two legs are invited to the photo shoot with St. Nick. The Santa Fest will kick off Saturday evening with the lighting of the Village Christmas tree at 5:30 p.m.

 Pricing: $15/proceeds benefit the East Atlanta Kids Club.
