Where/When: Candler Park, 585 Candler Park Dr., NE, Atlanta, Saturday, October 15, 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. & Sunday, October 16, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why go: Live music, more than a hundred artist booths, an area just for kids, a tour of homes, a 5K run and more make this a great family event to attend.

GET YOUR FAMILY IN ON A “MONSTER DASH”

Where/When: , 800 Cherokee Ave., SE, Atlanta, Saturday, October 15, 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Race day registration opens at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K beginning at 8:30 a.m., the 1 Mile Fun Run at 9:00 a.m. and the Little Goblins Run at 9:30 a.m.

Why go: Dress up the kids on costume and get over to Grant Park for this active event that involves everyone in your family. Not only will you have fun, but, all proceeds from this event benefit the Grant Park Cooperative Preschool. BONUS: if you pre-register for the 5K or 1 Mile, you’ll get a long-sleeved t-shirt and a goody bag that will include a general admission ticket to Zoo Atlanta, gift certificates and discounts for area restaurants like Agave, Doc Chey’s, Grant Park Coffeehouse, Max’s Pizza, Biergarten, Six Feet Under and Tin Lizzy’s.

PLAY “HIKE & SEEK” WITH YOUR KIDS

Where/When: Piedmont Park at the 10th Street Meadow (1215 Piedmont Ave.), Atlanta, Saturday, October 15, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why go: It’s worth the drive over to Piedmont Park to enjoy this 1.8 mile hiking adventure and fundraiser for the National Wildlife Federation. To start: arrive at the park to check-in and pick up your Map & Mission Guidebook.  Then, as you go along, visit the “Stop & Study Stations” along the trail to learn more about wildlife, plants and the great outdoors from volunteer naturalists. Be sure to collect the stamps/stickers from each station. Then, regroup at "Basecamp" after your hike for wildlife displays, snacks, crafts, photos with Ranger Rick®, and more.

Pricing: For Adults (18 and over) the fee is $12 online or $15 the day of the event. For children (17 and under) the fee is $7 online or $9 the day of the event. Please note that all children under the age of 16 will be to need accompanied by an adult. For more information: www.hikeandseek.org.

 

 GROOVE WITH YOUR CHILDREN

Where/When: Hearth Atlanta, 317 Nelms Ave.NE, Atlanta, Wednesday, October 12, 9 a.m.

Why go: This is a demonstration class, to learn more about what Ms. April is doing with her Learning Grove class – an interactive parent/child class for children ages newborn to four years of age.

Where/When: , 141 Pryor St., NW, Atlanta, Wednesday, October 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why go: The Fulton Fire Rescue Department invites everyone to participate in “It’s Fire Prevention Week! Protect Your Family From Fire!”, as part of the 2011 Fire Prevention Week. Fire personnel will be there to offer fire prevention information to all who attend and to answer questions.
