MULCH IN MIDTOWN VIA TREES ATLANTA

Where/When: Intersection of Monroe and Kanuga, next to the BeltLine, Saturday, August 13, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why go: Get your kids involved with while doing tree maintenance on Saturdays. This week, they’ll meet in Midtown to mulch (meeting at the intersection of Monroe and Kanuga next to the BeltLine), but stay tuned, as they move around a lot and will be in your neck of the woods before you know it!

GRAB SOME “GLORY” BY SEEING A MOVIE

Where/When: Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum, 800 Cherokee Ave, SE, Atlanta, Friday, August 12, movie begins at dusk

Why go: See this movie that tells the story of America’s first all-Black volunteer regiment, starring Denzel Washington and Matthew Broderick. This screening was rescheduled due to inclement weather last month and is part of the “Movies in the Park” program.

Pricing: Free.

 

TOUCH THE WORLD’S LARGEST LAND MAMMAL WITH YOUR KIDS

Where/When: Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Ave., SE, Atlanta, Saturday, August 13, 1:30 p.m.

Why go: Let your kids get close to elephants this weekend as part of the Wild Encounter program at Zoo Atlanta. Haven’t you always wanted to touch one?

Pricing: Free with zoo admission.

 

SEE A “WONDERLAND KIDS” CHARITY FASHION SHOW

Where/When: Fernbank Museum of Natural History, 767 Clifton Rd, NE, Atlanta, Sunday, August 14, 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Why go: Dream Kids partnered up with Macy’s to present this Runway Red “Wonderland Kids” Charity Fashion Show, benefitting the Show Me The Way Foundation, that works on raising funding for children infected by or affected with HIV/AIDS. Kids will model at this event.
