Family-Friendly Bets

When/Where: Thursday from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the East Atlanta Village Market’s new location, 561 Flat Shoals Avenue.
Why Go: Celebrate the opening of the market season, the market’s new site,  and Cinco De Mayo with your family and your neighbors at the East Atlanta Village Farmers Market.  After an opening ceremony at 4:00pm, festivities will include a “Seed Bomb” workshop, a chef demo, yoga, a special Farmers Market pinata, face painting, hula hooping, and picnicking. (*, across the street, will also be offering a local strawberry margarita with sales to benefit the market.)
Pricing: Free to attend.

  • KICK OFF THE MARKET SEASON IN EAST LAKE

When/Where: Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the East Lake Farmers Market on the corner of Hosea L. Williams Drive and Second Avenue (30317) AND from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the East Lake Community Learning Garden, 56 Second Avenue, SE - just steps from the same corner!
Why Go: At a time when buying local is such a hot topic and gardening is making a strong comeback - bring the whole family to celebrate not only the season opening of the East Lake Farmers Market and its 2nd Annual Collard Greens Cook-Off,  but also the groundbreaking for the East Lake Community Learning Garden.  
Pricing: Free to attend.

When/Where: Saturday from 11:00am to 9:00pm and Sunday from 2:00pm to 9:00pm in the historic Sweet Auburn district on Auburn Avenue between Courtland and Jackson. 
Why Go:  From the Kids Fantastic Fun Zone to the Live Green Venue, the Sports Zone Challenge, and the Active Seniors Pavilion, there is something for every member of the family at this celebration!
Pricing: Admission is free.

When/Where: Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Garden*Hood, 353 Boulevard SE, 30312.
Why Go: For kids of all ages, plant a container garden for mom! Garden*Hood will have all of the supplies ready for the creation of a great living garden that kids will love to make and give.  Look for the large, white tent.
Pricing: Priced for all budgets.

  • GO WILD FOR MOM

When/Where: Sunday from 9:30 to 5:30 at .
Why Go and Pricing: This week, along with the family fun to be had, the pricing is the draw.  With the purchase of a child’s admission, mom’s are free. Before or after your zoo outing, enjoy a picnic (that your children prepared, of course...) in .  Sounds lovely to me!
