Zuri, the year-old female giraffe, born July 13, 2010, left for her ner home at Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure in Salina, Kan. The move was recommended by the Giraffe Species Survival Plan. The young giraffe, which now stands about10 feet tall, left the zoo Oct. 18 in a specially-equipped truck that exceeded 40 feet. The truck aslo came with a truck equipped with a 16-foot trailer tall enough to ensure a comfortable journey. Zoo Atlanta Animal Management and Veterinary Teams confirmed she arrived safely in Salina and is adjusting well to her new surroundings. Zuri was the first giraffe calf born at Zoo Atlanta and is the older half-sister of 3-month-old Lily, who was born to Mona on July 21, 2011. Lily can be seen on exhibit daily in her African Plains habitat, which also is home to zebras, ostriches and waterbuck.
