Gnomes "Gnever" Give Up, but They Need Your Help

So do your Gnamerican duty — bring two friends and help break the World Record!

Please join the Krewe of the Grateful Gluttons at the Inman Park Festival Parade on Sat., April 27 for their annual attempt at the Gnome March World Record.

The Gnomes began marching in the Festival Parade in 2007 to bring attention to important Gnome issues:  gnomophobia, dandelion genocide, legalizing weeds, etc. In 2010, the Krewe and the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club attempted a World Record of the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Garden Gnomes (a/k/a Gnome March). Signatures of 108 Gnomes were earnestly verified by Julia Stedman and Amy Carter. The Guinness Book of World Records denied the Gnomes' claim, stating that the Gnome March was not an "established competition."  They then turned around and awarded it to a Canadian effort affiliated with the film, “Gnomio and Juliet!”

The Krewe's Gnome March did give the Canadians a run for their money in 2011 with 239 Gnomes but fell 40 Gnomes short. Now, the confounded Brits hold the record with 478 Gnomes. Is the Krewe giving up?  Never!  They're not taking this gnominally!

So do your Gnamerican duty — bring two friends and help break the World Record!  All you need is a pointy red hat, gardening clothes and a sign promoting/protesting your pet Gnome issue.

The Parade is Sat., April 27.  Line up at 1 pm at Edgewood and Waddell.
