Get Ready To Strut Your Stuff — East Atlanta Style

14th annual Village party is this Saturday

East Atlanta's annual Village party — the Strut — is this Saturday.

A completely volunteer-driven effort, now in its 14th year, the Strut is designed to showcase the best EAV has to offer in terms of business, food and fun.

The highlight of the Strut of course is the parade.

Activities: Five stages for live music, one comedy stage, a 5K Run/Walk, food and drinks, an artists and crafts market, community/neighborhood organization information booths, the Imperial OPA Circus, a bull ride, and of course, the Strut Parade.

Time: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Parking: Some streets will be closed to vehicular traffic —

  • Glenwood Avenue between Haas and Moreland avenues
  • Flat Shoals Avenue between Metropolitan and May avenues
  • Brownwood Avenue between Glenwood and Emerson avenues
  • Joseph Avenue between Glenwood and Portland avenues
  • Gresham Avenue between Glenwood and Emerson avenues
  • Stokeswood Avenue between Flat Shoals and Emerson avenues

Residents who live on impacted streets will have to show identification to get in and out with their cars. The parking lots in the Village also will be off-limits to vehicles and any cars left there or on the closed-off streets will be towed. Strutgoers driving to the EAV may park on the surrounding side streets.

Bicycling? You can park your bike at a bike corral — which will be manned — on Flat Shoals Avenue across from the .

Pooches: Only those dogs who are service — seeing-eye, etc. — are allowed in the Strut area.

Brews: It wouldn't be a Village party without alcohol, so the beers will be flowing — but only into the mugs of those who are 21 years old or older who have valid identification.
