EMBROIDERY A SECRET ON A HANDKERCHIEF

Why go: Come take part in a public art event with artist Jes Schrom at Young Blood Gallery & Boutique. Over 275 vintage handkerchiefs are ready to be embroidered with secrets collected from Schrom's Secrets of Atlanta project. Jes Schrom/Secrets of Atlanta: Public Sewing Circle

CELEBRATE AN ATLANTAN’S FILM DEBUT

Why go: “General Orders No. 9” is Robert Persons’ directorial debut. The film is about the state of Georgia, told through the examination of historical maps, architectural artifacts, lyrical narration and landscape cinematography.

Where/When:  , 1250 Caroline St., Suite C120, Atlanta, Saturday, August 20, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Why go: See what’s what at this twice-a-year sale. More than 50 local designers will be selling their stuff at 40% to 90% off. In the collections are housewares, food, crafts, jewelry, clothing and accessories. Prices start at $3 and most are under $50.
