THURSDAY: Residents of Ormewood Park are holding a "Come Oppose The Appeal at 731 Moreland Appeal" hearing at noon at the Board of Zoning Adjustment in the City Council Chambers at Atlanta City Hall at 55 Trinity Ave. The hearing concerns the controversial QuikTrip filling station and convenience store that QuikTrip Corp. wants to build at the intersection of Moreland and Ormewood avenues.

The Auburn Avenue Research Library, 101 Auburn Ave. NE, hosts Wall Street Journal writer and author, Cameron McWhirter, who will discuss his latest publication, Red Summer: The Summer of 1919 and the Awakening of Black America. The narrative chronicles the unprecedented wave of anti-black riots in the South, North and Midwest areas of the United States from April to November of 1919.
