Family-Friendly MLK Project Jan. 19 in Kirkwood
Nalley Automotive Group supporting service project that calls for planting 500 trees.
KIRKWOOD — The Kirkwood Neighbors Organization's Martin Luther King Day service project for 2013 will be the planting of 500 one-gallon trees in Kirkwood Urban Forest Park on Saturday, Jan. 19.
This will be a unique and family-friendly opportunity, so join us in recognition of Dr. King's emphasis on service to others and community.
We will meet in the DeKalb CSB The Kirkwood Center parking lot at 9 a.m. — 23 Warren St. SE off Victor Street.

Follow the traffic cones off Hosea L. Williams Drive across from Toomer Elementary's playing fields. You can also join us by walking across from the end of Dearborn Street SE.
As always, gloves, all tools (including some kid-friendly) and water will be provided. No experience needed, it's a great opportunity to learn how to plant and care for trees and a great chance for you and your family to connect with our green spaces.

We'll be planting native Southeastern trees including the well known Flowering Dogwood, Sycamore, Red Maple, Redbud, and American Elm. A selection of berry trees will support and grow Kirkwood's diverse bird population and will include black cherry, blueberry, red chokeberry and beautyberry. The little known natives, American Hornbeam and fringetree will add to the mix.
The project reflects KNO's long term partnership with Trees Atlanta, particularly in Kirkwood Urban Forest, and the trees have been provided by Nalley Automotive Group.
