EAV's New Welcome Sign Opens Door to Complaints

The new gateway sign is getting mixed reviews.

EAST ATLANTA — When the city and state transportation officials decided to redo the intersection of Moreland and McPherson avenues  earlier this year, the familiar "Welcome to East Atlanta" sign in the middle of the street came down.

The changes were made  to make a somewhat confusing intersection more driver-friendly.

A new welcome sign has been erected and it's received some mixed reviews.

We've received some complaints about the new gateway to the EAV, which, instead of being in the middle of the street now sits on the southeast corner of Moreland and McPherson.

Some of them have been about the design, but most of the complaints we've received say the sign's placement makes it difficult to see the northbound traffic headed up Moreland for motorists turning right onto Moreland from McPherson.

Do you like the sign? Do you think it's simply getting used to the new design? Share your thoughts in the comments section and take our poll.
