State Representative Stacey Abrams Reads to Toomer's Pre-K

State Representative Stacey Abrams visited Fred Armon Toomer Elementary School during Georgia Pre-K Week to promote literacy and foster a love of reading with the Pre-kindergarten children. Toomer's Pre-K children, Pre-K staff, several Early Learning Specialist from APS Office of Early Learning/Teaching & Learning, members of Representative Stacey Abrams’ office, and representatives from Voices for Georgia's Children attended this special event.

"Rep. Abrams did a great job keeping the children engaged!" stated Winona Jones-Archie, APS Early Numeracy Specialist.

The students enjoyed listening to Rep. Abrams read Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by James Dean, and Will I Have a Friend? written by Miriam Cohen.  "I like Pete the Cat, because I saw his belly button!" said Isaiah Dinkins-Jones, pre-kindergarten student. Joye Bradley from APS Office of Early Learning also engaged the students by singing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “Humpty Dumpty” nursery rhymes.
