CENTRALIZED SUMMER CENTER for NEW STUDENTS

The goal of the Centralized Summer Enrollment Center for New Students is to provide parents and students with a “one stop” summer enrollment location. APS encourages parents and guardians to schedule an appointment for enrollment (NEW STUDENT APPOINTMENT).

Important Notice: Walk-ins may experience longer waits as parents with appointments will be seen first. Every effort will be made to see those with appointments within 15 to 30 minutes of the appointment time. APS staff members will work hard to register your child as quickly as possible, however, during the summer we may experience longer than anticipated wait times. Because the seating is limited at the center, we strongly recommend that parents do not bring children or additional persons not necessary for the enrollment process with you at the time of service. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

I am enrolling a New Student – What do I need to do?

Parents may enroll all of their school-aged children who will be entering school during the 2014-2015 school year into the school district at one time. Parents/Legal Guardian should visit the centralized summer center with your completed enrollment forms and residency documents

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

KINDERGARTEN

GRADES 1-12

Time Saving Tips:

  • Bring your original documents and one copy of the documents to the registration site.
  • Notarize your Affidavit of Residency in advance.  A notary will be available on site at no cost.
  • Make sure all required documents are with you on site.  APS cannot process incomplete applications.

What Will Happen After You Complete Enrollment

During the summer, the staff at the appropriate school will review your child’s records and begin the process of scheduling your child for classes and/or requesting records from previous schools. The school may contact you if there are questions regarding your child or if additional information and documents are needed.  Please make sure that there are no outstanding financial obligations, books or materials that need to be returned to your child’s current school as this could cause a delay in transferring records from the previous school.

Parents/guardians and students are encouraged to attend the assigned school on open house day to obtain class assignments, schedules, and other information unique to the school. Please note that some schools may mail your child’s schedule to you during the summer months.  We also encourage you to sign up for a Parent Portal account where parents and guardians can view specific information regarding students.

Welcome Back Day/Celebration of Learning (Open House)      Friday, August 1, 2014

For the second summer, APS will host all open houses on the same day, Friday, August 1, 2014.

All High Schools                 1:00pm – 3:00pm

All Middle Schools             3:00pm – 5:00pm

All Elementary Schools     5:00pm – 7:00pm
