Free Atlanta Streetcar Walking Tour Saturday

Wear comfortable shoes, and feel free to bring water and cameras for the tour that will include a stop for lunch at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market.

Interested in checking out progress on what will be the Atlanta Streetcar? Then sign up for Saturday’s Streetcar Walking Tour, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please wear comfortable shoes, and feel free to bring water and cameras. No strollers, please. Meet at the southeast entrance to the Peachtree Center MARTA at Peachtree and Ellis streets. The free tour will stop for lunch at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market.

The $90 million project, which is expected to go into service next year, will create a rail route that links Old Fourth Ward to Centennial Olympic Park Downtown. The eventual hope, from a long-term perspective, is to create a north-south route from the Brookhaven MARTA station to Fort McPherson, in addition to the east-west line, according to Central Atlanta Progress

The initial funding for the project focused on the Downtown east-west route.
