Learn how to culture almost anything in your kitchen with Javon Mckinney owner and chef for intimatefoodaffair.com. Lacto-fermentation is an alternative, traditional process to canning fruits and vegetables. Not only does it release more nutrients in your food for you, it generates many communities of beneficial bacteria to aid in your digestion of solid foods. Learn about some quick and easy recipes to preserve fruits and vegetables! Bring about 2 quart jars for your own ferments. We will make one veggie and one fruit recipe. 5 person minimum. Advanced registration required.

More About Oakhurst Community Garden of the Wylde Center
Established in 1997, The Oakhurst Community Garden of the Wylde Center offers a wide range of classes, programs and special events for individuals, families and youth on such topics as organic gardening, sustainable urban living, nutrition and health. Its popular youth program is one of the metro-area’s largest and offers year-round educational programs. The two on-site gardens serve as gathering spaces, wildlife habitats and demonstration gardens. To get involved, be sure to sign up for a class or become a volunteer or a member.
