Members of the Society of Georgia Archivists will meet with Governor Nathan Deal on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. to proclaim October Georgia Archives Month. Archives Month highlights the importance of archives to the citizens of the state by promoting public events at archives around Georgia and encouraging individuals and organizations to preserve their own records.
The Society of Georgia Archivists will be joined by members of other organizations and individuals in expressing their support of the Georgia State Archives, currently scheduled to be closed to public access on November 1. Attendees will wear “I Support Our Georgia Archives” stickers and present letters to the governor protesting the closure of the Archives.
