The dance program at Maynard Jackson High School is full of talent, as displayed in the video.
A new video sent to East Atlanta Patch from Julia Suk, Atlanta Public Schools' communications officer, shows off the amazingly talented students in Maynard Jackson High's Ballet and Dance Program. In the attached YouTube video, Jennifer Thach explains how the ballet program at Jackson High helps students further their learning and aspirations in ballet and dance. Tiffany Mingo, the Dance Instructor at Jackson High, says that the, "program is flourishing," and that she is, "very pleased." Ms. Mingo is the unequalled gem at Jackson, and probably all of APS. Her productions are college-level. The dancers go through intensive training in the art and technique of dance, also learn to do their own choreography. Ms Mingo personally looks to advance all her students with opportunities to take classes with and become members of other dance organizations.   more ›

The 13th annual event will once again descend upon the thriving, mid-size theatre’s home turf in Inman Park this weekend.
For the second year in a row the Atlanta Fringe Festival will be hosting their Easter Art Hunt in Grant Park where, like so many Easter eggs, pieces of art will be hidden and FREE to whoever finds them.
Agnes Scott College student's tuba playing and autism will be part of short documentary.
Frequent patrons of the shops and eateries in Little Five Points will recognize Larkin Taylor-Parker, the young woman often seen playing her tuba. What few passersby know about the Agnes Scott College history major is that she is autistic. Taylor-Parker's real-life story, "The Girl with the Tuba," is among a series of shorts in a documentary called "This is Atlanta." The documentary is among a selction of cinematic pieces that will be featured in the 2013 Atlanta Film Festival, which runs from March 15 to the 24th. According to the festival's Facebook page, the block of short films called "This is Atlanta" will be screened at 5 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre.
