Week 5 APD Crime Report: 7 Murders in 2013 So Far
APD Chief Turner released the Week 5 APD crime stats
APD's Week 5 crime report, which covered from January 27 to February 2, was recently released and showed the City of Atlanta had no murders within that period. However, according to the report, the city has recorded 7 murders compared to just 4 murders in the same time period in 2012.
The report also shows that the city had roughly 150 more Part 1 Offenses committed this year already, compared to 2012. The biggest rising trend in 2013 is in Auto Thefts and Robberies. So far in 2013, there have been 529 auto thefts and 224 robberies reported, which contributes to the 5% overall increase in Part 1 offenses this year already.
Arrests, on the other hand, are down roughly 24%. Officers have made 342 arrests so far in 2013 (includes a majority of Part 2 crime arrests). This week alone, 78 arrests were made.

I dont know why people act like Buckhead is so safe I am not impressed with there numbers, there crime rates are very similar to Zone 4 except in one category and Zone 4 is a much large Zone 2.

I'm confused ... APD reported *no* murders from Jan. 27- Feb 2 but the city recorded 7 murders compared to last year's 4 murders?
Something's wrong with the sentence, the report or the statistic then.
AND I can tell you that after living in Midtown for 9 years - crime IS up!!

Hi Aya,
7 murders have been recorded for 2013 so far. That is compared to 4 murders from 2012 during the same period of time. (January thru February) I was trying to say that there were 0 murders during that specific week. (1/27 02/2) Sorry if it was confusing.
