Veterans Day is a federal and state holiday.
Established Non. 12, 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson, the day celebrates America's veterans and the signing of the Armistice bringing about the end of World War I.
So today, we thank the 21.5 million living veterans as well as those who served before them for their service to our country and the sacrifices they have made and continue to make.
In honor of our vets, several restaurants are offering Veteran's Day specials in and around metro Atlanta, according to Atlanta.About.com:
- Denny’s: All you can eat pancakes for active duty military and veterans with a valid ID on November 12.
- T.G.I. Fridays: free lunch entree on November 12 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. for those with military ID or in uniform.
- Golden Corral: free meal to veterans and active duty military personnel from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. on November 12. All Golden Corral locations will be participating and no ID is required.
