Two Slices Of Pizza, Please. Hold The Anchovies And Screaming Kids

Grant Central Pizza establishes policy against unruly children.

Grant Central Pizza & Pasta in Grant Park and its sister location, Grant Central East Pizza in East Atlanta Village are popular dining spots for everyone from hipsters to the senior set.

Unfortunately, patrons have complained screaming or unruly kids make for a less-than-pleasant dining experience.

As a result, the restaurant has established a new policy, Fox News Channel reported Friday.

"Dear all present and future patrons: GCP is proud of its reputation as a family restaurant, a title that we will work to keep," Fox said the new policy reads on the menu.

"Unfortunately a number of our diners have posted unpleasant experiences because of crying and unsupervised children. To ensure that all diners have an enjoyable lunch or dinner with us we respectfully ask that parents tend to their crying tots outside.”

Going out to eat can create a few difficulties for diners: some people don't like smoking; others are annoyed by mega-loud music some eateries play in the background. Still others are peeved at being told they can't bring their four-legged family members to outdoor restaurant patios.

But both Grant Park and East Atlanta are teeming with kids so will this policy go over well with residents of those neighborhoods?

  • Should restaurants and their patrons be a little more accomodating with those customers whose kids can be a little unruly?

Point of clarification: The map and photo show the East Atlanta location, but I think only the Grant Parl location has the policy on the menu.

Also, when I think of a quiet, romantic night out where children are seen and not heard, i always think of Grant Central <thinly veiled sarcasm>. This is ridiculous.

Since parents don't seem to discipline their children anymore, I guess restaurants will have to do it for them...

Going outside is what my parents used to do when I was a kid. It shows respect to other patrons in that a. We don't need to see the disciplining and b. Customers can enjoy their meal without hearing screaming and crying.

Sounds like a reasonable policy to me, at pretty much any private business. Not sure what all the hubbub is about.

Great. Now if they will just adopt a "stop yapping into your cellphone" policy, we will be all set.

Well, GCP, like a number of places, won't wait on/serve you if you're yapping on your mobile phone. Alas, it doesn't extend to people sitting in the booth next to you, so you will be forced to hear about lanced boils an other tidbits that qualify as TMI.

Poorly behaving parents should be put in check if the restaurant doesn't want to be Chuckie Cheese. Assuming a significant portion of the patrons are non-toddler-having adults that will not pay for a bad experience GCP is just managing the experience as it should.

This is just the one in Grant Park, right?
