UPDATE: Suspect charged in Decatur man's murder in Central Park

In August, Kentavious Ballard suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest while walking through Central Park just south of Midtown.

Update: Jan. 3, 2013:

According to Atlanta Police Officer Kim Jones, on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, fugitive units transported the suspect, Jeremy Woods, from South Carolina to the Fulton County Jail on a felony murder arrest warrant.

Orginal story: Dec. 20, 2012:

According to the Atlanta police, a suspect in the murder of a Decatur man this summer in Atlanta’s Central Park was arrested Thursday in Aiken, S.C.

Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee confirmed that Jeremy Woods, 24, was apprehended in connection with the Aug. 19 early morning murder of Kentavious Ballard in the park just south of Midtown.

Shortly before 4 a.m. on the day in question, Ballard and a friend were walking through the park when they were approached by two men, one of whom shot Ballard in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

After Atlanta police had identified Woods as a suspect, the department began working with the U.S. Marshall’s task force to locate him.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident Thursday morning and is being held at the Aiken County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Atlanta according to Chafee.

I was walking in FRANKIE ALLEN PARK (Buckhead; close to Elton John's highrise) during NORMAL OPERATING HOURS (evening) WHEN King & Spalding partner RAYMOND E. BALTZ JR. & his 'buddies' GANGED UP & SURROUNDED ME, DEMANDING THAT I LEAVE A PUBLIC PARK, cause i was simply CROSS DRESSED!!! Apparently, King & Spalding "Super Lawyer" RAYMOND E. BALTZ Jr. dosn't understand the meaning of "PUBLIC SIDEWALK & PUBLIC PARK". When i told him he would be reported, K & S's RAYMOND "Best Lawyers in America" BALTZ JR. quipped: "It would be your word against ours (Buckhead Baseball) ; who would believe YOURS"??? Even after i HAND DELIVERED my 'Human Rights Commission Complaint form', IT DISAPPEARED! I have to assume it was because of DIANE HARNELL COWHEN; then acting Parks Commissioner.
