Reynoldstown Argument Leads to Multiple Stabbings

Victims all taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

REYNOLDSTOWN — An argument between two men at a party resulted in several stabbings and the arrest of the suspected stabber, Atlanta police said.

Luke Patrick O'Donovan, 19, is charged with five counts of aggravated assault, police said.

Atlanta Police Department spokewsoman Kim Jones gave the following account:

At about 3 a.m. police responded to a 911 call from a motorist at North Avenue and Freedom Parkway in Poncey-Highland who was transporting two of the victims to the Atlanta Medical Center.

The stabbings occurred at 239 Gibson St.

Witnesses reported that O'Donovan got into an argument with another man that escalated into a physical fight with O'Donovan stabbing that man as well as four others who tried to subdue him.

All five stabbing victims, including two who had stab wounds to the abdominal and legs, were transported to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment. All victims were reported in stable condition with the exception one victim who was rushed to surgery in critical but stable condition.

O'Donovan suffered a cut to his lower back in the fracas and was hospitalized at Atlanta Medical Center as well.

He was charged at the hospital.

This gives an outrageously skewed story. The main person O'Donovan fought with instigated the fight by making hateful homophobic comments. O'Donovan was jumped by this person's friends once their fight escalated, and once the group started mercilessly beating him he pulled out a knife and did what most people in that situation would do. Hopefully the dirtbag homophobes will go down for this and not O'Donovan.

At the party Luke was seen making out and dancing with other men. He was called a f***** by his attackers and beaten in by a large mob, with numbers being between 8-12 on 1. Luke fought back valiantly and tried to get away from the mob as soon as he could. The story being put out by the media currently has several untruths. Luke never left the party and returned, as has been reported elsewhere. He was not the aggressor in the fight. The "cut" on Luke's lower back was a stab wound he recieved from his attackers.

Why didn't you jump in and save him if he was being mercilessly beaten? Why weren't the men Luke was allegedly kissing harassed and beaten up too? Why did nobody help him? This account, aside from being totally NOT what the multitudes of other witnesses said, makes very little sense. I saw him on tv today, not one bruise on his pale face one arms, not one. However, there are young men in the hospital with plenty of evidence to indicate that your story is full of it! George Zimmerman was more believable and that's saying a heck of a lot! Also, the ATLANTA Black Cross is an anarchist group, with this odonovans book wish list on it, reads like Timothy McVeigh! Stop bashing the victims, odonovan is a maniac, glad the judge recognized it and he didn't have an Uzi!

That's not true. Luke and Andrew started fighting and everyone tried to break it up. The fight started again on the side of the house... that's when Luke started using his knife. Only after Luke used his knife did people start ganging up on him in order to stop him from stabbing other people.

He is guilty. He had time to leave and he was fighting just as much as the other guy was. He had no reason to stab the first kid and that first stabbing is the reason people were ganging up on him. They were trying to get the knife away, that's why so many people got stabbed. None of those guys are homophobic by the way they were joking about calling him a faggot, Luke couldn't take a joke and started punching one of them and he was defending himself.

Calling someone a faggot is not a joke. And neither is twelve people beating someone they just called a faggot. You can't just play that off as a joke

Ha so harmless they scrubbed it. I saw his myspace pg earlier, has a photo of Ed burns from American history x with the swastika on his chest as his photo. So...is hi a skinhead or skinhead lover. We're calling his victims gay bashers, and this guy, the skinhead sympathizer is the one who is involved with hate thought..see why he carries a knife!

All of this propaganda about what happened to Luke, whom I don't know, in reference to this being a hate crime is something I won't believe. I personally know those who were stabbed and them being portrayed as "queer bashing hate mongers" is completely ridiculous. I wasn't there at the time but I know for a fact this wasn't some blind hate crime. When you have a weapon and intend to use it, you accept the consequences that come along with it. More than anything, I hate that it happened at all. I wish the best for all the victims and hope they make a speedy recovery.

Just cause is full of it. First of all, his mugshot is widely circulated and clearly shows that he did take a beating. Also, he doesn't even have a MySpace account, let alone one with skinhead images. Luke O'Donovan is a more common name than you might think. I think it's pathetic that these dudes were able to gang up on a 19 year old kid and he's the one in legal trouble for defending himself. People die from being beaten all the time. If he didn't have the knife who knows how tragically this could have turned out. All the so called victims are alive and well and face no charges while a 19 year old kid faces five counts of aggravated assault. That doesn't seem right.

What's the beating? That small bruise on his lower lip? Jeez, those 12 guys sure walloped him!

Also, the kid Luke stabbed IN THE AORTA was 19 years old, too, so don't drag age into it like it immediately absolves Luke of his crime. Yes, crime.

Is there an update? Just wondering, things just don't add up...why weren't the at least 12 other people arrested? Is the guy who got stabbed in the heart out of the hospital? Did anyone video if there were so many people just standing around watching? Does anyone remember the old rhyme "sticks and stones"?

There's a hearing next week. O'Donovan remains in custody.

I'm just glad the family and friends are organizing legal and financial support for a trial and not for a funeral! Imagine if he hadn't defended himself. I've read in the GA Voice interview with a witness that the attack on O'Donovan seemed coordinated and happened as the party was ending. Maybe all of his friends were gone already? This is a shame; but I'm glad he defended himself.
