The announcement that Atlanta's Chef Kevin Gillespie plans to open a new restaurant in Glenwood Park is welcome news for Southeast Atlanta.
Gillespie, who lives in Ormewood Park, has developed a foodie following and Gunshow, as the new restaurant will be called, will likely be a destination eatery.
We've heard from some East Atlanta Patch readers who feel that this side of town doesn't have enough in the way of destination food spots.
There's the Shed in Grant Park, of course, which recently named a new chef. And there are other chefs who've built a following such as Calavino Donati of Urban Cannibals Bodega + Bites in East Atlanta. Cabbagetown has Agave.
Still, some of the folks we've heard from say we're behind other parts of town like Buckhead and Midtown when it comes to destination restaurants — unless you include the plethora of fast food chains that line Moreland Avenue.
What do you think? Is that a fair criticism or does this part of the city hold its own with the foodies?
