Nude Mural in Chosewood Park Gets Temporary Reprieve
Neighborhood meeting set for Sept. 10.
The Chosewood Park mural that sparked a row in the neighborhood over its nude imagery, is not getting repainted after all.
At least, not yet.
11Alive News reported the mural, painted by Argentinean artist Hyuro, will stay, pending the outcome of a Sept. 10 meeting of neighborhood residents.
The mural, which was painted as part of the Living Walls Conference, was to have been repainted this weekend, after the owner of the former General Motors Lakewood Plant decided the attention and controversy was too much.
But a meeting is planned for Sept. 10 see if a compromise can be reached.
This year's Living Walls Conference featured women artists from around the world who painted murals all over the city including East Atlanta and Reynoldstown.

It's a beautiful work of art, maybe they can just put some underwear on her and make everyone happy.

I have visited four times already and each time I take someone new with me. It's beautiful and I want us to keep it and continue around the wall where the fence is located where all the gang taggings are located!

Where will the meeting be held and what time? If they're going to have a meeting they need to make sure to really get the word out or people are still going to feel like they didn't get a say in the "vote" or whatever is going to happen at the meeting. It's coming up quick and I haven't heard the specifics. Thanks eastatl patch for the date.

Someone please paint over this wall. If you like a painting like this, paint your living room walls all the way to your kitchen with sexual organs displayed....not the wall in a neighborhood. Poor choice of Art!

Renate Richardson you are so right I just hope its not that stuff called wheat paste. If its paper stuck to the wall the stuff will peel off the wall. Don't get me wrong I do support Living Walls but if they did not get the ok with the neighborhood they need to repaint the whole wall.

I could go as far as to say that this drawing could promote teen pregnancy.

Or Renate, it could be said it promotes world peace, or saving kittens, or wolf reintroduction.

Only the repressed see something pornographic..... SAD.

Maybe that's because the area where this living wall has been created is full of crime and robberies, drug dealers, etc. In addition, the drawing was done onto an old, creepy looking building. It disturbs the current environment, and might not if it were displayed in a museum or wholesome environment where one could view it by choice.

...and, many new homes and condos have been built there. New sidewalks were i live. So while you enjoy this change of 'environment', Lo and Behold, you are forced to look at a lady showing her vigina with pubic hair while driving by....... while explaining to your teenage son, that having sex too soon can cause many problems......and he will know that this kind of display is tolerated by the community and by the City of Atlanta. Remind of Woodstock...all is flowery and lovely...not. Come on, no one is a prude here. This is just wrong.
Over and out.

Your teenage son already knows the consequences of sex... But that subject has absolutely nothing to do with this artwork. Nothing. At. All. Every single one of us was born with genetalia.. I find nothing obscene with depicting nudity in a non sexual way.... And yes, this is non sexual depiction of the han form. It's nothing to be prudish about.

Far from "pornographic", but its within eyeshot of a mosque. In very poor taste. Plus the artist did a bait-and-switch from what was plan. She got her attention-whoring...now just get rid of it already.
