Ammazza opened Monday in the Geyer & Taylor building on Edgewood Avenue.

The restaurant, owned by Hugh, Jason and Cameron Connerty and Knox Ridley, features 16-inch Neapolitan-style pizzas and other dishes from and inspired by the cuisine of the Naples region.

For example, you can get a classic Pizza Margherita, or you can try an Inferno, with spicy sopressata, house mozzarella, calabria peppers and basil. There is also Pizza Fritta, “the real street food of Naples,” and desserts such as cannoli and pasta fritta con cannella, a fried yeast dough with cinnamon sugar.

The owners were getting the restaurant ready to open at 5 p.m. Monday, and Patch stopped by in the afternoon to take some pictures of the last-minute preparations.

Ammazza is located at 591 Edgewood Ave. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
