Man Robbed at Gunpoint in East Atlanta Village

Victim said he was robbed by fellow patron of local club.

EAST ATLANTA — A man reported Sunday that he was robbed at gunpoint while sitting in his car.

According to the victim, he was in the Asylum bar at 551 Flat Shoals Ave. and left at about 11:40 p.m. to take a short rest in his car, which was parked about 200 feet north of the club.

The victim told police he sensed someone following him but thought nothing of it.

As he sat in his car, he said he heard a tap on the passenger side window and saw black automatic pistol pointed at him.

The gunman told him to give up his items and the victim — who said he recognized the gunman because he saw him in Asylum earlier that evening — handed over his wallet and mobile phone.

The gunman ran west down Stokeswood Avenue.

No one at Asylum said they knew the gunman.

East Atlanta Village has become a free for all for the thugs. It's like their shopping center. What is the average now, about weekly someone gets robbed in East Atlanta?

What kills me is when people have a gut feeling but decide to dismiss it.

Le sigh. At least he wasn't hurt.

"take a short rest in his car"? Really?

Taking a short rest sounds like he was going out to his car to do a line of coke.

Coke can be snorted in the restroom. Maybe smoking a joint?
All joking aside, these victims in EAV seem to set themselves up as easy targets. Not paying attention to someone following them, sitting in the parking, being out late and alone. No sympathy here for those caught in these situations.

No sympathy for someone sitting in his car (regardless of the reason) that ends up with a gun shoved in his face and his possessions taken? So you think people should know better than to sit in their cars? B.S.!
