Man Robbed at Gunpoint in East Atlanta

Victim was unhurt.

Atlanta police report that a man was robbed at gunpoint in East Atlanta Village early Wednesday shortly after leaving the East Side Lounge.

The victim told police he left the bar at about 4 a.m., Nov. 28 and was headed south on Flat Shoals Avenue toward Glenwood Avenue in search of a taxicab.

As he walked, a gunman came up from behind armed with a .22 caliber gun.

The gunman took the victim's mobile phone and wallet and ran to the parking lot behind My Sister's Room at 1271 Glenwood.

Once there, he got into a waiting car, which sped away.

It can take a while to find a taxi in the East Atlanta Village even during normal hours, but at 4 am on a Wednesday morning? This guy, coming stumbling out of a bar that late really put him self in a bad situation. These thugs wait for people to make bad decisions.

THINK people! 4am by yourself? Looking for a CAB? How about calling for one? There are no cabs just wandering the Village at that time or any other. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN THAT SITUATION! Sorry it happened, but DUH!

Everyone, nice job blaming the victim for the crime.

I'm sorry but this guy made himself an easy target. Criminals look for the lone, drunk guy alone late at night. Easy pickings. I'm tired of reading so many robbery report where the victim put himself in a dangerous situation. Look at all the people that get their phone and iPads ripped out of their hands because they are walking down the street at night using them, and are oblivious to their surroundings. These things make our crime statistics go way up. Like Traci said, if you are leaving a bar that late a night, call a cab and have them pick you up in front of the bar. Don't go wandering around at 4 am hopping to find one. We all know that crime sucks in Atlanta, but don't make it any easier for the criminals. It will only embolden them more if it is so easy to rob someone.

What a fool for choosing to live in Atlanta instead of John's Creek. He should have known better. He put himself at higher risk by choosing to live in Atlanta. I wish jerks like this guy walking down the sidewalk minding his own business would stop fucking-up our crime stats by choosing to live in Atlanta. What an asshole he is.

It's not the wisest choice to walk alone at 4am, but he should be free to do so, unmolested, if he wishes. The blame falls completely on the perpetrator.
