Little more than a week after a DeKalb County man was carjacked at gunpoint in his driveway, five men stole an Ormewood Park man's car at gunpoint Saturday afternoon.
Hours later, a Fulton County police officer shot a suspected carjacker in his buttocks after a high-speed chase that ended at the Fulton and Clayton County line, 11Alive News reported.
The suspect whom the officer shot, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, the news station reported. Two other carjacking suspects in the car — a black Honda — ran and remain at large.
It's unclear if the carjacking suspect police shot was invloved in the Ormewood Park incident or is a suspect in a different case.
Atlanta police did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment, but the Ormewood Park incident occurred at the corner of Woodland Avenue and Mercer Street around 4 p.m., according to a witness who posted a warning on the neighborhood's listserv.
Ormewood Park is in Fulton County but within the Atlanta city limits.
The witness reported the victim was parking his Honda at Mercer Street, when what appeared to be a black Honda with five men approached.
Two men jumped out, put a gun the victim's head and stole his car, which also is a Honda.
The five sped away in both Hondas toward Moreland Avenue and escaped.

Not sure if they still do it now but when I worked in Jacksonville, Fla., the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office let officers take their vehicles home and use them even when they were off-duty.

This incident took place about 2 doors away from the home of an Atlanta City police officer and 3 doors away from an Atlanta City fire fighter. There are frequently police cars parked on the street here.
