Help Open A Summer Of Possibility For Boulevard Youth

Appeal for project focused on giving 300 Boulevard children opportunities for fun and a summer camp experience.

by Fiona Sites-Bowen

As most of you know, Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall has launched the initiative – a year long effort to revitalize the Boulevard corridor and invest in the human capital of the neighborhood.

Recently, the TEDxAtlanta community, a group of technology, media, and marketing professionals, awarded their first-ever prize to the initiative. They have pledged to help organize and raise funds for a for Boulevard youth. We need your help to make it happen. The goal of The Summer of Possibility is to ensure that kids and teens who live in the Boulevard corridor, especially those living at and below the poverty line, have an opportunity to participate in a fun, safe, and affordable summer camp experience this year.

So far, roughly $30,000 has been raised through the support of generous neighbors, local businesses and other partners. We have just over $70,000 to raise by May 19th in order to fully fund summer camp for 300+ kids in the Boulevard community. We hope that the Old Fourth Ward community can contribute $10,000 toward that goal. Please visit http://www.tedxatlanta.com/wish to donate today. You can sponsor a child for a week, a month, or the whole summer.

We also need help spreading the word about the Summer of Possibility. Once you have donated, please visit https://www.facebook.com/SummerofPossibility, "like" the page and download a pledge badge for your Facebook wall. Please let your friends know via Twitter, email, text, telephone, word of mouth.
