Enchanted Closet Awards Community Partners

Group's mission is to empower girls.

The Enchanted Closet presented awards to two of its community partners: in Piney Grove and OMG!!! Cup & Cakes in East Atlanta Village. Both supporters were honored for their generous contributions to the Enchanted Closet and helping to empower the lives of girls.

The Enchanted Closet is a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization that began in 2003 as a project to provide prom dresses to teen girls whose families were financially challenged. To date, the Enchanted Closet has outfitted nearly 4,000 girls for special occasions. The Enchanted Closet also offers monthly life skills workshops designed to increase the self-esteem, self-sufficiency and self-awareness of girls. More than 400 girls have participated in the workshops.

Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church served as a dress collection location. The Grove also hosted the first installment of the Enchanted Closet’s 10th Annual Prom Dress Giveaway. The Enchanted Closet’s partnership with The Grove was made possible by the church’s Social Action Commission, which addresses social issues involving HIV/AIDS, homelessness, voter empowerment, education and health issues concerning the community. The nonprofit presented an award to The Grove’s Social Action Commission and Pastor Dr. William E. Flippin, on Sunday, May 20.
