East Side Lounge Closing

Slated to reopen in under new owners and management.

Deaths usually come in threes. And the last few weeks have been bad in terms of Atlanta's favorite night spots.

First, Atlanta's Chef Ria Pell announced she was closing her popular Sauced in Inman Park after three years with a farewell and customer appreciation party on Saturday Dec. 29.

Then, Pura Vida in Poncey-Highland, announced it would close Dec. 31 after nearly 12 years in business.

Now, the East Side Lounge, the popular nighttime bar and music venue in East Atlanta Village has announced its closure, too.

A longtime Village anchor known for its themed music nights, the ESL has been sold.

The bar's manager did not immediately respond to an e-mail or a telephone message seeking comment Thursday.

But in a Facebook posting on a RIP page dedicated to the ESL, deejay Kwasi Anderson, who spins under the moniker Quasi Mandisco, says it will reopen.

It's not clear when or under what concept.

The club is holding a goodbye party on Dec. 28 at 10 p.m.
