DeKalb County police are investigating what led to the death of a 2-year-old boy in Parkview Saturday night.
Michael Weeks was pronounced dead at Hughes Spalding hospital, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Weeks, who had bruises on his chest and thighs, suffered from cardiac arrest.
The boy's mother, left her son in the care of Devon Sawyer, her fiancé, at a home in the 2000 block of Memorial Drive on Saturday afternoon, the AJC reported.
She then went to run a number of errands.
A short time later, Sawyer sought help from a neighbor who tried to unsuccessfully resuscitate the little boy.
They called 911 and Sawyer later told investigators he took a nap with the boy and when he later awoke, he found the toddler unconscious.
