Bike Theft Warning Issued in Inman Park
Four bicycles stolen in two weeks — all in the daytime.
Atlanta police issued a warning to Inman Park residents about a number of bicycle thefts that have occurred in the neighborhood.
Four bicycles were stolen from residences on Hurt Street and Lake Avenue in the last two weeks, Atlanta Police Lt. D. Brent Schierbaum told residents of the Inman Park Neighborhood Association Wednesday night at its October meeting.
In one of the incidents, the bike was the sole target of a home burglary, he said.
All the thefts occurred in the daytime.
As a rule, it's a good idea to write down the serial numbers of bicycles so police have a some way to tracethem back to victims should they get stolen, Schierbaum said.

Several bikes were also stolen from Candler Park, Euclid Ave the weekend of Oct 27-28 2012. I'm getting a list together, but one was a Fat Tire cruiser (very recognizable) and another a dark purple womens trek 7.2. I'm not a social media expert, but with people stealing all of these bikes in the same area, I'd like to think our communities could work together to track some down. If someone reads this and has some ideas of how to use the power of our communities and social media to find these people, please comment.
