The Atlanta City Council's Transportation Committee is expected to take up a discussion of a proposal by District 2 Councilman Kwanza Hall that would revise the taxicab stopping and standing rules on the south side of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive between Peachtree and Broad streets.

The proposal follows a long row of complaints about loitering on that stretch and other quality of life concerns.

The legislation — Ordinance 12-0-1140 — would remove some of the taxistand spaces and convert them into metered parking.

Neighborhood Planning Unit-M, which represents the interests of Old Fourth Ward, Downtown and Castleberry Hill, voted in support of the proposal on Monday.

The Transportation Committee is slated to meet Dec. 12 at City Hall for a public hearing.
